Our story

I first stepped onto the ice at the age of two. My mother was a figure skating coach, my father sharpened skates, so the ice rink was a natural part of my childhood.

Then a serious injury changed everything overnight. My figure skating world came to an abrupt end, and figure skating became off-limits for the next 25 years.

I didn't even want to hear about it anymore.

My Little Daughter Changed Everything

Her first steps on the ice. And that was when my life, in a strange twist, began to lead me back to the place I had once left behind. My mother had stopped coaching. My father had stopped sharpening skates. And our small local figure skating club was almost in a panic:

“So who's going to sharpen our skates now?”

My husband is a highly skilled professional mechanical engineer. He became very interested in skate sharpening and spent several months studying the processes and technology needed to sharpen figure skate blades properly and to a truly professional standard.

It was 2009/2010. A professional sharpening machine from Canada appeared in the garage of our family home, and we started sharpening skates. At first for the local club. Then for other figure skaters from the surrounding area. Gradually, word spread that there was a place in Náchod where they simply knew how to do it right.

We had no idea what we had started…

“Do You Have Laces Too?”

When people brought us their skates, they started asking: “Mrs Radová, do you happen to have any laces? What about blade guards? And gloves?”

I realised that something was missing from the market.

I had CZK 17,000 left from the severance pay from my previous job. I took the money and bought a few figure skating accessories and some clothing. Using a template, I created a small online store myself and listed the products.

Within a week, everything was gone. So I ordered more… until one day someone asked:

“Do you sell figure skates too?”

And that settled it. 😊

ICEDREAM Came to Me in a Dream

And I mean that literally. One night, I dreamed of the name: IceDream – Make Your Ice Dream Come True.

The next day, I called my sister and she drew our logo. That unusual little figure that is still with us today. Some people see a butterfly or a flower in it. But it isn't a butterfly. 😊 It's a little head, a dress and a pair of skates.

ICEDREAM had its name. And at the time, I had no idea just how fitting that name would one day become.

Pack Up the Stand and Off to the Competition

During the first few years, we didn't just wait for customers to come to us. We went to them. With our small stand, we travelled to figure skating competitions. We loaded the car with skates, clothing, gloves, racks and all kinds of little accessories. We set everything up when we arrived – and packed it all away again in the evening.

It wasn't a big business.

Just one stand, a few racks and a lot of enthusiasm.

But it was at competitions that we were surrounded by skaters, parents and coaches. We listened to what they were dealing with, what they were missing and what they really needed.

And ICEDREAM grew alongside them.

It Was Small. It Was Packed. But It Was Ours.

The garage was no longer enough.

Little by little, a small shop, office and warehouse were added to our family home.

The shelves filled with more and more skates, clothing and accessories. Meanwhile, I began contacting the world's leading figure skate manufacturers.

Gradually, I managed to establish partnerships with three of the biggest brands, and we became their official dealers and importers.

It wasn't just local customers coming to our little store in Náchod anymore.

Customers started travelling to us from all over the Czech Republic.

And Then Our House Said: Enough! 😊

In 2024, we realised that we simply couldn't continue running everything from home.

We had nowhere left to put the products, no room to expand the warehouse, and most importantly, we wanted to create an environment for our customers that reflected how far ICEDREAM had come over the years.

So we left the place where our entire story had begun and moved to new premises in the pedestrian zone in the centre of Náchod.

Today, we have a beautiful store, a warehouse, dedicated facilities for our technicians – and even our own small ice rink where skaters can try out their new skates right away.

Today, ICEDREAM Is All About the People Behind It

I haven't been running the company on my own for a long time now.

We have a wonderful colleague who takes care of the online store, purchases accessories from abroad and also coordinates our three seamstresses. They make figure skating clothing and accessories under our own ICEDREAM brand.

We have three experienced technicians. They mount blades and inline frames, repair hooks, heat-mould skates and, most importantly, provide professional skate sharpening.

In 2013, I earned my coaching licence. I no longer have time for regular coaching, but everything I have learned throughout my life on and around the ice now helps me when selecting skates for our customers and providing advice.

And perhaps that's why a phone call with us sometimes takes a little longer. 😊

From Náchod to the World

Today, customers still travel to us from all over the Czech Republic. They have been joined by customers from Poland, Slovakia, Germany and Switzerland.

We have sales representatives in Břeclav, Havířov and Karlovy Vary, a franchise in Prague and a representative in Serbia for the Balkan region.

Thanks to the multilingual version of our online store, we also ship orders to other European countries, and our products even make their way to the Czech community in the USA.
